Request from Anstruther harbour master to prevent a small open
power boat from sinking within the harbour, crew arriving at the station
about to start an exercise Coxswain authorised ILB launch and informed
Forth Coastguard.

Vessel pumped out remained alongside the harbour wall at Anstruther

Request from Forth Coastguard to assist a cabin cruiser with two persons on board, west of the Isle of May
with both engines failed.
ALB and on scene when one of the engines was restarted, the casualty made its own way to St Monans
escorted by the ALB
Casualty safely in the harbour the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.

Request from Forth Coastguard to assist a yacht reported to be fanned up on
creel ropes off Cellardyke

ILB launched and on scene by which time the casualty had freed itself and no
assistance was required.

Request from Forth Coastguard to stand by in 'immediate readiness'.
Dunbar ALB had launched to 9m yacht with two persons on board suffering
from fatigue and dehydration, reported 1.5 North of Dunbar.
Actual location was middle of Firth of Forth near Isle of May.
Dunbar transferred two crew to yacht and safely landed the casualties
at Anstruther.
Anstruther ALB launched to tow the yacht to Pittenweem and
transfer the Dunbar crew to their lifeboat

Report from the harbour master of small pleasure boat
fanned up on creel ropes near the shore at St Monans.
Coastguard informed and crew paged
ILB launched and once alongside untangled the ropes and
escorted the casualty back to Anstruther harbour

Mechanical difficulties outside Anstruther harbour.
Crew mustered but did not launch as casualty assisted
by anther local fishing boat

Request from Forth Coastguard to assist a small yacht or windsurfer in
difficulty approximately half a mile off Elie.

ILB on scene on freshening winds to take over the tow, started
by a small local speed boat that had gone to assist.


The casualty and Laser type yacht were safely landed on Elie beach

Request from Forth Coastguard to investigate reports of a microlight crashing into the
Firth of Forth off Ludin Links. Distance given as 3/4mile off shore.
ALB on scene  with Rescue 177 helicopter when apparent wreckage or person
was sighted in the water.
The casualty turned out to be a five foot partly deflated helium balloon in the shape of
Mickey Mouse.
Returned safely to Anstruther Lifeboat Station.

Anstruther Harbour Master reported to the station that a small creel boat was trapped
under the pontoon having taken on water during the previous high tide and swell.
(see news item) with the rising tide the boat would have been sunk and damaged
causing an obstruction. Using a combination of jacks and the tractor with a long rope,
while working in deep mud, the hinged pontoon was raise from the horizontal sufficient
to float the casualty with the tide and be towed to safety by the ILB while the pontoon was lowered

Immediate launch of ILB requested from Forth Coastguard to report of person
in the water off the east pier at Anstruther.
Lifeboat launched and proceeding to location when directed by crew who had
run down the east pier to search off the west pier.
Casualty located and quickly taken on board and landed at  the slip
where crew were able to assist with blankets, before entering the lifeboat station
where he was dried and given warm clothing before being handed over to
the ambulance service for transfer to Ninewells hospital.

Later released having made a full recovery

Lifeboat launched on radar test, when request received from Forth Coastguard,
to proceed to St
Monans, where it was reported that a vessel was sinking.

ALB arrived at St Monans just as Coastguard stood them down.
The vessel was not actually sinking but had become snagged by a rope and tyre on a rising tide.

The rope was cut by Fire & Rescue service
